Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy

Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy (ICP), sometimes called obstetric cholestasis, is a liver condition that can develop during pregnancy. It happens when the normal flow of bile, a digestive fluid made by your liver, is slowed or stopped within the liver. This causes bile acids, which normally help with digestion, to build up in your bloodstream instead of being properly flushed out.
