Mixed Connective Tissue Disease

Mixed Connective Tissue Disease (MCTD) is a unique autoimmune condition often described as an 'overlap' disease. This means it presents with features of several other autoimmune diseases, most commonly Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (lupus), Systemic Sclerosis (scleroderma), and Polymyositis. In MCTD, your immune system, which normally protects your body from infections, mistakenly attacks your own healthy tissues.
