Why Context Matters
Urine pH is significantly influenced by diet; a high-protein diet lowers pH, while a vegetarian diet raises it. Furthermore, if a urine sample is left at room temperature for too long, bacteria like Proteus can convert urea to ammonia, falsely increasing the pH level.
Lab ranges are statistical averages, not biological laws. "Normal" for a 20-year-old male isn't normal for a 60-year-old female.
