Pulmonary Embolism (PE)
PE is a sudden blockage in a lung artery, usually caused by a blood clot that traveled from a deep vein in the leg (DVT). It is a life-threatening medical emergency.
Common Symptoms
- Sudden shortness of breath
- Chest pain (worse with breathing)
- Coughing (sometimes with blood)
- Rapid heart rate
- Dizziness
